: You know, there were a couple of my very wise friends who used to keep saying that elite educational institutions like JU and JNU are bubbles, which have nothing to do with or in fact, are detrimental to the cause of positive change in real politics. I think yesterdays michhil was a veritable slap on their faces. That is exactly the kind of straitjacketed arrogance that resulted in the slap on the state authoritys face yesterday as well. How it will translate electorally I do not know (and frankly I do not care at this juncture), and have never had much to say to those that reduce every political moment into a calculation of subsequent electoral gains (they bore me to death) - but I do think a moment was created on the 20th of September, 2014 that will not be easily forgotten by this or subsequent governments. Yes, there are bubbles that fancy themselves the centre of the world. And there are centres of education, thought and politics, that spread a contagion and a consciousness through the world, and through generations divided by time. Theres a hell of a difference between the two. Proud of my profession.
