You know you’re from Calcutta when....... You have at least one Reliance mobile/landline. Going to McDonald’s is an outing for you.We have grown out of it now.Or have we? You think that the best cold coffee is served at Gautam’s. Azad hind is the place you’d go for Punjabi food even though it doesn’t serve the best Punjabi food. You’re irritated when you see another China bazaar just two blocks away. They aren’t that common anymore. You were excited about Calcutta finally heading in the right direction when you got up into one of those air-conditioned Whiteliners. You get up early to watch a 10 o clock movie in Inox just because the tickets are cheaper in the morning. You can’t get your food at any food court without going past the trouble of standing in a queue. You always thought that Calcutta sounded way cooler than Kolkata. You finally started liking Himesh Reshammiya’s songs thanks to the auto rickshaws. Really? What was wrong with us? You look around the street for a dustbin to throw that chocolate wrapper in your hand, but finally end up throwing it on the streets. You are often presented with an unexpected holiday thanks to a strike. You wonder how Mamata Banerjee is so popular among the people when you and everyone else that you know of hates her. Turns out,she was. You have missed a metro train because of the person ahead of you in the queue presenting a note of large denomination at the counter. Someone has missed his train because of you presenting a note of large denomination at the counter. You feel that your monthly metro card sets you above the ordinary people standing in queue. You frown at yourself for having picked the slower moving queue. You rejoice in every Knight Rider’s win ,which comes once in a lot of whiles. You still feel that KKR can bounce back in the next edition of the IPL. They actually did You look around and have a statue of a deity or a temple in sight. College street it is when you need books. You go to chandni chowk to buy a computer or its peripherals. Before the malls stepped in, vardaan and ac market were the coolest place in the city. You were excited to see the new market ‘Landmark’ which had ‘capsule’ lifts. As a kid, you loved to play with the automatic tap in Haldiram’s,kankurgachi. You hate the city for 10 months out of 12 for its unbearable summer and waterlogged streets during monsoon. #shared
