Youre wrong. You know that, right? Youre wrong about things you think youre right about and youre wrong about things you take as given and dont even realize youre simply holding a perspective on. Dont read this to mean I advocate adopting the whitewash and false equivalence of all wrongness is equally wrong or everyones right so cant we just all figure out how to get along. No way. Some perspectives are more intelligent, more adequate, more just, more compassionate, more inclusive, more damn cohesive than others—in other words, wiser. Some worldviews fail so utterly to integrate the available information that their only success is to create a sense of safety for the subject, at any cost. And yes please lets keep developing discernment and intellectual clarity—these are good things for humans, and do not require a denial of mystery or wonder or of all implausibilities. Lets keep seeking, naming, and calling out the flaws in our thinking. But my point is, hold it all lightly. Because you are wrong. Even the most pristinely cogent, coherent and brilliantly integrative theory in the noosphere today will be surpassed by the emerging awareness of tomorrow. And will never be more than a finger pointing at the moon anyway. Forgetting that were wrong is blindness. Pretending that were objective is intellectually dishonest and obstructs all generative potentials in our communications and co-explorations. Celebrate wrongness. So much we dont know. Most of it. Thats a good thing.
