Youth activities for promoting co-existence On November 27th CAFs (Citizens Accord Forum) Youth Parliament Program held a very exciting and important event in the mixed Jewish-Arab city of Lod. Following is the link to a video in which you can clearly see the energy of the 500 Jewish and Arab teens who took part in this full day of activities during which they grappled with the issues of identity and culture in their city. The event coincided with International Tolerance Day and students from several schools, led by the local Youth Parliament members, together with teachers and CAFs specialists took part. In addition to inspirational performances by a vocal ensemble formed for the purpose of the event, there were a variety of workshops which used artistic tools (masks, painting, cinema, comics, debating and more) as a vehicle for developing a dialogue on the issue of identities and cultures. The Youth Parliament members shared their own experiences with participants, adding an even deeper component to the conversations that took place and helping the teens relate to each other. Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive and has come from parents, teachers, school principles and local government representatives alike. The Youth Parliament and Deliberative Dialogue programs run by CAF are truly critical to helping create cohesion and hope for the future in Israel.
