an honest broker, standing up for whats right, a big voice despite being a small country. Ive heard all of this today from the Prime Minister in the wake of New Zealands election to the Security Council. This was the pitch we made to other countries and, apparently, the basis on which we were selected. I agree that this was traditionally a strong part of New Zealands reputation in the world (along with 100% Pure and a great place to bring up kids). Unfortunately Mr Keys Government has been undermining the basis for each of these reputational assets. I am thinking particularly of climate change today, where Mr Keys line has been New Zealand is a small country, responsible for only a small proportion of global Carbon emissions, and unable to lead international change. We are not going to be a leader; we will be a fast follower of others leadership when this emerges. Time to step up I think, and show some integrity.
