brightener Psalm 120:6 (ERV) I have lived too long with those who hate peace. Meditation There was a time when watching the daily national news was a standard part of the evening schedule. Families would gather around the television around dinnertime and catch up on the headlines with someone they saw as a trusted friend, like Walter Cronkite. Over time, a huge growth in news media outlets resulted in unending coverage, and the majority of that coverage tends to be impersonal, negative and violent—so much so many people now don’t watch the news at all anymore because it’s so discouraging. Perhaps you feel much like the writer of today’s verse. All around you, it seems peace haters prevail, leaving you feeling hopeless. If this is you, be encouraged. Remember God is with you and remains in control of what it happening in this world. If this isn’t you but describes someone you know, be a source of encouragement to them. Take time to share with them from God’s Word or to pray with them about their concerns. Either way, your trust in the Lord is sure to brighten the day and elevate your perspective. Prayer Lord, I praise You for the reminder that You are indeed in control. Your will shall be accomplished and nothing can stop that. I believe in You and embrace Your peace. Amen.
