can a movie produced by hollywood ever inspire a revolution? shouldnt we be suspicious of anything that claims to do so?? seeing Hunger Games themed sandwiches at Subway, and a sign in their window that encourages you to Play to win your own victory tour! to hear Lionsgate hint that a Hunger Games THEME PARK is a possibility, then COVERGIRL with their Capitol Collection to get that perfect Katniss look, every ad and every bit of marketing focuses not upon the story of class struggle and countercapitalism ways of thinking but on KATNISSS CLOTHES AND THE LOVE TRIANGLE BETWEEN KATNISS, PEETA, AND DUDE FROM DISTRICT 12 WHOSE NAME I CANT REMEMBER, all of these things are eerie. less so because of what they are, but because its as though the bastards in control dont even realize how ironic it all is. how so very like the Capitol it is. its just insulting, really, more than angering. because its impossible to not see the irony, theyd HAVE to see the irony. the only real answer is that there is no respect for the modern audience. the viewer is thought to be too stupid to do anything but consume, like brain dead cows herded into a pin ass to ass eating mashed corn and chicken bits from a dirty pail. there is zero respect for the consumer, zero respect for the viewer. we are nothing more than dollar signs and this is why there are so many television shows, so many movies, so many pop songs about the same types of people doing the same types of things day in and out and in and out. because they believe we will consume no matter what. as long as they give us a sandwich, a love triangle, and an appropriately named theme park ride we wont do anything. gahd. what was the outcome of that movie V for Vendetta other than everybody and their brother buying a guy fawkes mask and tweeting/statusting/whispering to all their friends remember, remember when november fifth rolls around?
