coming soon to provincetown….get ready ! : New firefighters hired TRURO — Selectmen last week approved four new hires presented by Fire Chief Brian Davis: Jesse Capello, Michael Lopriore, Rastislav Mariak and Donald West. All four are fully certified and currently working for other local fire departments, Davis said. “They can only do per-diem shifts. They cannot do call,” he said, noting the department still needs call firefighters as well Selectman Paul Wisotzky thanked Chief Davis for his work in finding four good candidates “in a very short period of time.” Wisotzky said later in the meeting that with the fire department restructuring in place, the consultant who has been helping the town with that task will now shift his attention to the area of training. “The overall emphasis is on building capacity here in Truro to conduct our own training,” he said. The consultant, Bob Loomer, will be at the board of selectmen’s Sept. 23 meeting for a discussion on plans to upgrade the department’s breathing apparatus, among other topics. —DBS
