day 45: Maryland Crabs w Old Bay Seasoning. Im typing this tonite with a huge smile on my face and a full heart. I had to leave here at six this morning for work. spent the first few hours struggling to keep my eyes open. keepin in touch with Jaime , she was fine. she spent the morning relaxing, was able to get a shower in and then got some pretty awesome visitors. my dear friend from high school, Julie Morgan Martin and her husband Matthew M. Martin , drove up here from southern MD to visit. they surprised J around lunchtime, took her out for a stroll to enjoy this gorgeous 80 degree day. I was so touched that they came all this way for just a couple days. we had a great day at work, and as soon as I could i headed back home to pack , say hi to everyone and then bye. I got a quick little heart wrench as Aysa put on a frown and said but you just got here. but, she understands that Im taking care of mama. my mom packed up some food for us and off I went. Jaime was all smiles when I got here. we ate dinner and then there was a knock at the door. Matt and Julie were back for part 2 of their visit. we spent a few hours chatting and catching up and reminiscing. lots of laughs, lots of memories. Gay Goode Morgan, I know youre reading this, thank you and Pete so much for opening your home to me during those times. those memories are still w me today. they came bearing gifts too. a nice gift bag of goodies from another high school friend, Gina Raby. thank u Gina and fam! some pumpkin bread from mom, and the icing on the cake, a bag full of cooked crabs and ol bay! ahhhhhh. we also received a sweet gift bag and card from Tonya Smith. thank you Tonya! aaaand, from across the ocean, some proceeds from the fundraisers being run by my relatives in Italy. Grazie!!! were going to sleep well tonite, side by side watching a movie and stuffing our faces with all this food. but well take a moment to reflect on how blessed we are to have such great family and friends near and far. thank you, so much, for taking the time. #CarnucciStrong
