digg The Bangladesh Cricket Board had spent many days requesting the 7 franchises of Bangladesh Premier League to pay their due sums, but had gotten no response. The sponsors Game On has also laid low on that matter, No one had kept their word regarding money and after trying their best to persuade them to, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has said that there might be only one option left, filing a legal case. Any day now BCB might make a lawsuit against the 7 franchises of BPL. The chairman of BPL governing council,Afzalur Rahman Sinha, has said,, ” We will wait till the end of this week. If we receive no response from the teams, we will have no other option than to go to court..” The Bangladesh Cricket Board was supposed to receive a sum of 19 crores from Game On for the second session of BPL, of which not even a penny had been paid. To keep relations healthy, BCB had not even asked for a bank guarantee from Game On, but they have considered this a weakness of the BCB and taken advantage of it. Eventually Game On had promised to give BCB a bank guarantee of 14 crores by 15th June, but that deadline had expired yesterday. Afzalur Rahman Sinha also said, ” Game On had not been able to keep their word once again. The board will have a meeting later today discussing actions that might be taken against them. The franchises will get time till the 17th of june to pay their due amounts. If they fail to do so, proper legal action will be taken against them as well.” The owner of the franchises on the other hand, seem to be least worried about BCBs actions. Owner of Duronto Rajshahi, Mushfiqur Rahman Mohon has said, ” i had already given 5-% of the players fees. I am trying to give te rest. If BCB tries to sue me, then let them be. If they can sue me, i can sue them back !” Some of the other franchises had not even paid 50% of the players amounts. This is very shameful for our country’s cricket. Every time they were asked for the money, Game On and the franchises have both shown excuses and increased their time. Now we can only wait to see what comes next.
