The Barberton City Schools will be hosting its Tri-Arts Festival on Saturday, March 22, at BHS from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. This event will showcase many of our talented students. There will be student art work on display, vocal music performances and instrumental performances throughout the event. There is no admission charge for this event. Concessions will be available. Many congratulations today! Euro A. is Spelling Bee champ! We are very proud of Euro, an 8th grader at BMS for winning the district contest. He will go on to the National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C. this May. Keith K. also represented BMS at the district bee. Both boys make us very proud! Last week I mentioned the winners of the Magical Theatre Kids Scripts Contest, but neglected to mention the runner-ups. Please read the communication from Mr. Jim Jensen, Destination Imagination Coordinator: We had a great day on Saturday at Hiram College for our Destination Imagination (DI). We sent 17 teams, including two Rising Stars teams made up of our youngest kids. Two of our teams received special recognition and received a DaVinci award for outstanding creativity. Those teams were two middle school teams....Got Poo? made up of Macy A., Alea G., Kyle H., Sean R., and Spencer H. Got Poo? is led by team managers Lisa Griffiths and Ann Hutchison. Lights that Light Up! made up of Jamie M., Courtney K., Jaycee L., Brevan M., Nelson V., and Brandon F. They are led by team managers Amy M. and Chris M. One of our elementary teams received a Spirit of DI Award for outstanding spirit, teamwork, volunteerism, and sportsmanship. Five Rings and a Torch made up of Alexis K., Carlie K., Madison M., Aidan T., Olivia T., and Sophia F. and are led by team manager Susan Kemp. First place teams at the elementary and middle level advance to state competition; first and second place teams at the secondary level advance to state competition that will be held April 26, in Reynoldsburg, Ohio.
