fran ----------BY BILL MCMURDO October 7, 2013 The Right Direction Rangers could be in play once again after accounts were published last week. I did blog a while back about there being several serious people keeping their eye on Rangers. As I said at the time, the present boardroom wars may cease only to be replaced by bidding wars. My information is that heavy hitters are looking at Rangers and the accounts have only made them more interested. This is another massive indicator that scare stories about Rangers going under are just spin to further an agenda. Meanwhile, on the pitch Rangers are certainly rolling along. Two great goals put paid to Ayr United at Somerset Park yesterday and those fans who are fed up with all the boardroom drama can at least enjoy the team running away with the League one title. The general consensus is that manager Ally McCoist has the team moving in the right direction. ———————— I am not so sure that the coalition government in Westminster is moving in the right direction with the sacking of Michael Moore as Secretary of State for Scotland. Moore impressed me as he appeared to be quite competent and carried himself well. If news reports that he was considered to be a bit tame for the independence fight are true , I think that is a tad harsh. For me, Moore’s cool and rational approach was perfect. There are plenty others who can do fiery and combative but Moore’s position demands a more level-headed approach. That said, if Moore’s replacement – Alistair Carmichael, MP for Orkney and Shetland – sticks it to Alex Salmond in robust fashion, I will be cheering him on. Now is the time for those who wish to maintain the Union to redouble our efforts and present an irresistible case for unity and union in these British Isles. The compulsion toward oneness and union in Britain – captured so perfectly in the ancient vision of Albion – has always overcome tribalism and division. What we need in this 21st century is to win hearts and minds to this idea once more that our destiny lies in Union and unity, not in splinter and isolation. ———————————- Speaking of ancient Britain, I am indebted to some of my fellow bloggers for plugging my book Jesus Millionaire a great deal recently. Whilst the book covers what is an interesting theological side debate often engaged in over Jesus’ financial status, it was written to add to the ever-growing body of literature which speaks of Him visiting Britain in ancient times – such as Glyn Lewis’s Did Jesus Come To Britain? and Dennis Price’s The Missing Years Of Jesus: The Extraordinary Evidence That Jesus Visited The British Isles. This fascination with the human side of Jesus has been exacerbated in recent times by Dan Brown’s Da Vinci Code book. People clearly want to know more about Jesus’ life beyond the Bible record. I have also incorporated some of the fantastic research carried out by Barry Dunford which looks at the considerable evidence and body of tradition which states that Jesus visited Scotland and had family connections here, as well as possible business interests. I appreciate some might find this book a touch on the zany side but it is a good read if I say so myself. And not half as zany as a “get rich quick and double your money overnight” scheme which a certain blogger apparently tried to sell to Brian Stockbridge.
