from ronno cooke As someone who has a kind of cancer that has high success rates if found early....mine wasnt in part because I had no insurance and didnt feel the urge to go to the emergency room for an inflamed tonsil....I waited until it had spread to the lymph node before seeing a doctor.....and now is metastatic....and who also incurred over $200,000.00 of medical bills before I could get insurance with a pre existing condition.....and who lives in a state which decided not to start their own exchange...and expand Medicare.....and as someone who will not be able to afford to keep the insurance without the subsidy....even though Ive worked hard to build a business....well, two...actually before I got sick, and still pays my taxes, SS, etc....but cant work the schedule I used to...which was intense and a little crazy sometimes, but I did it to pay the bills.....I have a keen interest in the outcome of this case.....contrary to a seemingly popular opinion, not everyone who gets a subsidy is a welfare queen trying to game the system on the backs of hard working folks.....I would hope no one has to go through what Tracy and I have in the last year and a half, medically or financially related to medical care....it hasnt been pretty, and in every other industrialized nation in the world, it wouldnt have happened .....except here.....in the good old USA.....and it wouldnt have happened to us if the ACA had been enacted sooner...or even better, universal healthcare like all those other countries....which incidentally in spite of another commonly parroted mantra actually has better quality healthcare and lower costs than us.....scary words like communism with all its associated negative connotations have been thrown around loosely in reference to the ACA....when in reality every other free and democratic nation except us seems to have embraced it......are there problems with the law as enacted...absolutely.....but we should fix it....not gut it
