h/t Cal J. Balogun Wonderful and very honest vlog on the Importance of discussing this topic with Deaf students, especially DDBDDHH Black Indigenous Youth of Color. They know whats going on, but are we, teachers, able to talk to them about why? I know, Ive been there before as a White teacher-- its not my place, not my race-- yes, it is messy, it is not a comfortable topic to talk about, but just starting a dialogue in a language they will understand is so important. And dont stop there. Invite others in your schools to engage in this dialogue. #FergusonLibrary on Twitter is a good place to start, ReThinkingSchools too. Teachingforchange.org. So many to list. For lesson plans on Social Justice for Deaf learners, ERCOD at Texas School for the Deaf has some stuff (inbox me and I can help guide you to their website)... and follow Teachers for Social Justice: Deaf Learners [transcript included]
