#heatrising;) What an excellent performance we just witnessed from the Miami Heat. The Heat just made the San Antonio Spurs look like, well, not the Spurs, which isn’t easy to do. After playing a close game with the Spurs in the first half, the Heat went on a remarkable 33-5 run in the second half. The defense was simply ferocious. The Spurs normally elite offense couldn’t do anything. After forcing just four Spurs turnovers in Game 1, Miami forced 16 in Game 2. On the offensive end, everything came together. LeBron James struggled offensively in the first half, but came alive during the enormous run. Still, the play of the game from James and one that Heat fans will never forget came on the defensive end. That was probably the greatest block I’ve ever seen. UPDATE: LeBron spoke on the play, saying: “I told myself you’re going to end up on SportsCenter one way or another. Either get dunked on or get a block. Luckily I was on the good side of the Top 10.” Chalmers added: “We seen that coming.” But back to the big picture, Game 2 was truly a team effort and representative of what this Heat team is all about: Being a true TEAM. Mario Chalmers was outstanding, as he attacked the basket and hit from the outside. Chris Bosh’s jumper was working and he was involved on the glass, grabbing 10 boards (four of which were from the offensive glass). Despite finishing with just 10 points, Dwyane Wade looked great and set up teammates in the first-half. What can’t go unnoticed in this game is how important Miami’s role playing shooters showing up was, Chalmers included. But for Ray Allen and Mike Miller to come off the bench and knock down 6-of-8 three-point attempts was just huge for Miami. The Heat got key contributions from literally everyone in its rotation. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: When the Heat are at their best no one can beat them. The Spurs, which is a really talented and smart team, couldn’t even come close to beating Miami when the Heat played to its potential.
