i-Tree Inventory - Basic Training Workshop Wednesday Aug. 28 and Thursday Aug. 29, Millbrook, NY i-Tree is a state-of-the-art, peer-reviewed software suite available from the USDA Forest Service that provides urban forestry inventory, analysis and benefits assessment tools. The i-Tree Tools can help communities of all sizes to strengthen their urban forest management and advocacy efforts by assessing the makeup of community forests and the environmental services that trees provide. Workshop Dates: 10:00 AM Wednesday Aug. 28 – 3:30 PM Thursday Aug. 29 Location: Cornell Cooperative Extension Dutchess County, 2715 Route 44, Millbrook, NY 12545 Attendees: Up to 20 spots are available for anyone interested in urban forestry management: city foresters, arborists, volunteers, educators, landscape architects, foresters, municipal officials. Registration: $ 125 Workshop Content: Basic training on how to down load, set-up and use i-Tree to do tree inventories, analyze data and create reports. a) i-Tree introduction and overview of available applications b) Data collection options - Using smart phones/tablets/PDA/paper forms c) i-Tree Streets background, project planning and set-up d) i-Tree Pest Detection – introduction and integration of Iped in inventory and i-Tree Streets projects e) Field session – practice Streets data collection and pest detection protocol individually and in a groups f) Assessment of field issues; data QA/QC; data download/transfer; working with software, reporting Equipment Needed: Attendees should bring their own laptop computer and a data collection device (smart phone, tablet, PDA) if available. We can provide equipment to attendees if needed. There will be a pre-webcast to show attendees how to download i-Tree Software.
