im behind on my deadline, the newsroom is in its usual controlled frenzy, and folks are running around trying to finish editing stories. but im a taking a deep breath and, especially with the high profile deaths of the past few days, to remember our good friend and colleague ted holtzclaw. ted was our operations manager for years, and 2 years ago today, he dropped dead right outside our WABC-TV Channel 7 Eyewitness News studios. this giant of a man, whose heart was as big as his stature, taken from us and his beautiful family, just like that. in the flash of an eye. lifes short, and ted knew it. which is why he smiled so much, even when he was angry (which he rarely was). today we reflect, even amidst the news chaos and pressure that ted thrived on, and remember this beautiful man, and his wonderful family - including verna and their little boy, harrison, who now has lived half his life without his wonderful dad, teds brother duke and his sister shari. our hearts are still heavy. and we miss you big man.
