last week i got one of those private name private number phone calls - it sounded like an older man - he said he had read my letters to the timber lake topic and asked would i write one on the person that had broken the nose off the sitting bull monument up close by mobridge - i asked the culprit’s name but for some reason he wouldn’t give it to me - he said that the guy was a “tall ugly man” that hated indians and worked at the old age home in mobridge - so i made inquiries and found that there’s only one “tall ugly man” working there - his name is jim hand - he’s been working there for years and may have been responsible for the many complaints of mistreatment of our people received some years ago during the frazier administration - the chairman did send a delegation to investigate - they found nothing amiss LOL and nothing further was ever said or done about it - seems like there was a man named jack hand who was a law officer of some kind for timber lake or dewey county - this “tall ugly man” could be his relation - i inboxed dave nelson at the topic asking this very same question yesterday but no response as of today
