made a serious mistake. Gave the dog with a small mouth, to large - TopicsExpress

made a serious mistake. Gave the dog with a small mouth, to large a bone. The other 2 bigger dogs, were done before the smaller mouthed dog. The 2 larger dogs started to steal smaller pieces of bone away and Doc didnt like that. He attacked Marcy who usually runs away at the 1st sign of Confrontation. He also attacked Buddy, who does not run away at the first sign of confrontation. So, the 2 boys got into another fight. Buddy had Doc pinned to the ground so I took Buddy off of Doc. I was not prepared for Docs counter attack. Doc countered as I pulled Buddy off and Doc got hold of Buddys neck and wouldnt let go. I grabbed Doc and put him between my legs to hold him from moving and then unclamped his mouth with both of my hands - one for his upper jaw and one for his lower jaw. Those darn teeth are sharp and I found out just how hard his bite is. He kept shaking his head to loosen up my grip and he succeeded. Buddy - not backing down was still there and Doc lunged at Buddy. I grabbed Doc by the back of his head and went to put my other hand around his neck from the front side. As I did that - Doc again lunged at Buddy - who wasnt being very helpful himself as he was lunging back and forth with Doc. As Doc lunged forward, my hand (thumb in particular) found its way into Docs mouth - not the front of his mouth, but in the back where those big molars are. He clamped down and boy - did that hurt. Thank goodness for thumb nails. I can still see the bruise where Docs tooth clamped down on my thumb. No breaks in the skin, but I can tell - it will be black and blue. Needless to say - I stood up and that was the end of the fight. Buddy ran to his room and Doc ran into my office. He came out to try to make nice with me, but I just stared at him and he ran back under my desk. My thumb is beginning to swell up now and its sensitive to the touch. I cant even hit the space bar without feeling the sensitivity. It doesnt hurt, per se - but I am very cognizant of every bump and thump on my thumb. When I push down on my thumb nail, it feels numb and sensitive at the same time. Does that make sense? Ill let Doc make up with me now - its time to take them out for a short walk.
