Despite the Egyptian giants having wanted to move the game to the Cairo International Stadium, the decision to hold it at the Arab Contractors Stadium stood. The seven times African champions wanted the game moved in the hopes of having a more intimidating atmosphere, as the Cairo International Stadium would have been able to host around 70 000 people.
