ok..Columbia...I have known Mayor Benjamin for a long time. Somewhat of a role model actually. When I first attended USC he was either the student body President or the Law School President either way he had my attention and respect. I remember running into him at Clintons inauguration. We were the only two young spooks in the building. At the time, I had ambitions of law school and to someday become a Senator. Chicks and money kinda sidetracked me. Anyway, Steve stayed true to his calling. Over the years we have supported each other but my support has not come without serious critique and it is why my endorsement should not be taken lightly. Speaking candidly, Mayor Benjamins willingness to help those that have helped him has put him in awkward situations. I have known people to enter his circle that are straight scum. Its hard to recognize a snake until he bites you. Those snakes kinda kept me leery of entering his circle but I cant judge him on that alone. We are all flawed and worthy of correction but a man must be measured for his successes and not just his imperfections. There is nobody close to being more qualified and deserving than Steve Benjamin to be Mayor of Columbia. His contacts Nationally go unprecedented. He has vision and leadership that is only limited to the archaic weak-mayor system in Columbia. You must vote for Steve Benjamin and vote for a Strong-mayor system. That way you can hold someone accountable and we can let Steve do what he does best. The current council set-up divides the power and causes too much grid-lock. One of the things I like about Mayor Benjamin is audacity to challenge the status-quo. He took a lot of criticism in the black community for not giving special treatment to the NAACP President that was arrested in 5 Points. However, he handled it like you are supposed to handle it. Most of you dont really understand what that means. Just trust me on this and vote for Steve Benjamin. I have some plans for the City of Columbia and I believe Steve will support them. I have no clue who this MOE guy is nor do I understand a single word he is saying.
