okay, so this has bugged me all day, well since it happened anyway. And I just cant get over it, how un professional some companies or their management personnel are and how they just let anything go..... A gentleman came in with a speech and hearing disability, and I made the casual comment to him that if he kept coming in I was gonna have to start inviting him to family reunions, and we both laughed. I was just trying to laugh and have fun while doing my job. He then begins to tell me that the place he was working at had a position open up and he put a bid in on it. and the supervisor was looking at the bid posting with him standing behind him looking over his shoulder. The supervisor then says Hell probably get the bid and I just dont have the time or patience to train a R-word! My gentleman said He just walked out and quit! Now he is trying to get another job in another factory, and he says, Im just not gonna work and be treated like that! and as Im standing there fuming I sort of wanted to advise him of his rights on the workplace and tell him that on all kinds of levels that was so very wrong and illegal and the company could get into some big trouble. But before I could do anything with a smile on his face he says maybe this new company would be better and picks his things up and starts to leave and tells me hell come to the next reunion. Now I dont have any idea if this really happened this way, the way the man told it to me....my coworker and I were just dumbfounded but it breaks my heart and disgusts me to no end that people do this, as it did hers. And as I sit here typing this all I can do is shake my head. What has our world come to that this is acceptable in any way shape or form, from a supervisor who is in the position to be the one who should look over the personnel and make sure nothing like this ever happens.... what kind of message is that sending if it is the supervisor who is handling that kind of language and with that attitude toward any employee....it doesnt have to be an employee, just another human being.... . Im just so stinking aggravated over this!
