once, i gathered up all my data, gave it to an expert at Lemoyne, and asked them to crunch the numbers. despite the startling statistics, the response of the local government to police abuse has been masturbatory at best and in the end, there has been no change in attitude. i think they still have a guy named Quattrone working at SPD. that alone signals all that is wrong with that dept. i have been fighting this fight for 22 years. it is nice to see others finally picking up the ball. my hope is they stay in the game and dont get burnt out and give up. this is a long hard slugfest and cannot be won in a single round. but it has to start. to date, no matter how bad the publicity, no matter how severe is the brutality and abuses, and no matter how wrong and offensive was police behavior, you will find nobody willing to do anything other than make nice to you, pretend to listen, organize rallies, and then slowly one by one, return to business as usual. those who pretend to stand up are only standing for their own headlines and leave when the spotlight is gone. they use simplistic terminology as change the rules for use of force and have to live in the city as if any of these issues are at the core of what is so wrong with modern day policing -- especially in syracuse me? i am still here like a tiger waiting to pounce. i got the big teeth and all the strength and resources necessary. but the new kids on the block think they invented this game. i would say its fun to watch them spin their wheels, but to do so would be standing in support of the endless abuse. that i cannot do.
