one MP complained she had once been charged only £1 for a treble gin and tonic while visiting troops on the Falkland Islands Ok. This raises two points: A) What was said minister doing ordering trebles? Surely using your experience of necking trebles at a mess bar as your argument kind of removes you from any credible anti-drink campaign. B) When she awoke from her drunken gin slumber at the crack of noon the following day, covered in kebab, stinking of cigarettes, stale booze, shame and regret (come on, we all know what the Falklands are like), I very much doubt the first thing on her mind was how little shed spent at the bar the night before.
