predicting the future course of Kejriwal’s party, one only needs to look at recent history for likely outcomes. In 2008, legendary Telugu actor Chiranjeevi’s then newly-formed Praja Rajyam Party had a manifesto almost identical to Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party – anti-corruption, gram-swaraj, free electricity, cooking gas at Rs. 100, social justice etc. It vowed to take on the corrupt Congress and the ineffective Telugu Desam Party. Unsurprisingly, it split the anti-Congress Government vote and handed a mammoth victory to the Congress on a platter. In 2011, the PRP and Congress formally merged and Chiranjeevi is India’s Minister of Tourism today. It wouldn’t be a stretch to envision a scenario where a similar set of events pans out at a national level, thereby catalysing the formation of UPA III in 2014. The ball is in Kejriwal’s court.
