silly stuff, but important to me.... being the daughter of a Black-Irishman and a half Irish (from where, we dont know), half German mother, I have long fought the idea that everything Irish is Celtic. The Celts did not arrive until about 500-300 BC but Ireland had been populated for eons by people from the Mediterranean region, not the least of which are the Milesians who though Ireland to be the lost Isle of Atlantis. In fact, Gaelic is a Middle Eastern language not a Celtic language. The Celts were ProtoEuropeans from Central Europe who marauded and invaded West all the way to the British Isles. The language was already there. So please know that if I have any Celtic roots it is from my Germanic roots, not my Irish roots. And although most Celts were fair-haired and freckled, the Vikings are the reason many Irish have those traits in the East of Ireland. After all, Dublin is a true Viking settlement and the migrants from Normandy were the descendants of Vikings who took over that region. Even William the Conqueror was a Viking descendant from Normandy! Aint history great??? just sayin
