so we are having a collection drive to get our building cleaning staff (4 folks for a 6 storey office block, what a task) a money bonus as a holiday gift. I encourage other folks in office settings that might not have this to suggest it. Big orgs and corps really do rest on the efforts of frequently overlooked folks doing labor so we dont wade hip deep in garbage and have to deal with stinky restrooms. Sort of ties in on a national scale to the immigration debate. I dont think any of our staff are undocumented but when you think about the rhetoric of job stealing, not a lot of competition to go out and pick lettuce in the sun for a few bucks with few complaints because the boss can kick you out at the end of the day. They are doing the jobs you would hate to do. Dont be a hater. But yeah, pitch together and make the holiday of the folks who clean up your shit.
