For June, Writers & Books presents Paula Marchese and Michael Arve. Between them, Paula & Michael have acted in, written, & directed plays, written poetry, taught theater arts, and mentored young actors. Two of Rochester’s Finest in Theater present for this program! Since high school, Michael H. Arve has done theatre both as an actor and director. He lived in Knoxville, Tennessee for several years, working in HIV/AIDS prevention education. His production of “The Belle of Amherst” won state, regional, national, and international (The Dundalk Ireland International Theatre Festival) awards for his direction and for the brilliant performance of Vicki Casarett as Emily Dickinson.. For his 2003 performance as Matthew Brady in Auburn Players’ production of “Inherit the Wind,” the Theatre Association of New York State (TANYS) awarded him The Outstanding Actor Award. In May of 2006, he and the entire cast of “The Mousetrap” were honored with Outstanding Ensemble Acting Merit Awards. In 2011, he published a volume of poetry, The Hiding Wall (FootHills Publishing). He is currently an Artist in Residence at MuCCC (Multi-use Community Cultural Center), and is now in rehearsals for “An Evening of Ionesco: The Bald Soprano & The Lesson,” opening at MuCCC (142 Atlantic Avenue, Rochester, NY) June 19-29, 2013.
