this is an interview by ProPhoto magazine Mike and Madeleine Bülow Through extraordinary shots that you do not see every day, we hear about the young artist couple Mike and Madeleine Bülow and have asked. You have come across detours to photography - what were the reasons? After 20 years of music production, it was time for new creative ways to go. I discovered more and more my interest and talent for photography. In addition to the recent successful photo shoots with musicians and athletes (including the Berlin Adler) excites me especially abstract art and the unconventional. Together with my wife Madeleine, I tried with new painting techniques. We were doing our imagination run wild and this gave us completely new perspectives in the creation of your own photo opportunities. What fascinates you about photography? At the abstract photography fascinated me, especially the surprise of our images, since only the technical part and the colors are influenced. Sometimes you need more than 1,000 rounds until one - for our taste - zusagendes design was retained. On this adventure, we look forward to every project again, because we never know what to expect. There are unique moments that you can capture and hold. How did it come to the combination of painting and photography? This was a long way and has lasted about 1 ½ years before we have extended this technique. This path is not over yet. We are always looking for new materials, components and items which you would not take the usual way. In this way we came gradually to the present result. Further matters further, we initially created on stones and tiles abstract fluid normally produced on canvases and have then photographed and edited high quality. What technology do you use? We use a Canon EOS 5D Mark 2 with various lenses (all L lenses). Our illumination: 3 x 600w / s strobes controlled by Pixelking. The aperture settings are 8-16, depending on the depth and composition, the shutter speed to 1/8000 high-speed, whichever medium we use. Where do you see the combination of the standout? That for us is outstanding, the crafting of the play of color, which is then held in place with a special photo technique. The viewer thus given an insight into our abstract world of color. Each picture is unique and not reproducible. Also, we think that our pictures correspond to any fixed standard, which causes only a single feeling in the viewer. Everyone can interpret it in different things and lose themselves in other ways in them. Moods are controlling in warm and cold colors a little, but primarily decided by the viewer itself. Strictly speaking, there is the completion of our images not only from the color used and the retained motif, but ultimately, with the thoughts and feelings of the viewer. What are the biggest challenges in implementing your ideas for pictures? Picture ideas do not exist in our abstract images. Our challenge lies in the choice of material, the consistency, the color choice and the light setting. Can any of these pictorial implementation provide and what are the requirements? Since we have no solid concept and various materials and components such as powder, oil paints, acrylic paints, water colors, ink etc. use and then, fly, for example by vibration, splash, etc. set in motion, can also provide any of his own creativity. What do you want to give to third parties arising from your experience, who want to discover the photograph itself? That you should learn and master the technical aspects of a camera, to let then his creativity. Only the front of the lens should focus on and not the thought of a perfect technical setting. The flair and an eye for the right moment of the shot are the most important thing in photography. The fun of photography and their own creativity should always be maintained. It is important that you not the other follows in the footsteps but his own leaves.
