to everyone who hasnt voted yet. this is the most momentous election of our times, for this time we are offered three different ideas of India. how you vote this time has the potential to change the very idea of india. - one idea would have an India with lots and lots of power concentrated in the hands of one man, who would bypass the bureaucracy and fast-track decisions. given this mans history and ideological leanings, i doubt whether equality figures high on his agenda. - another idea would have India as a lumbering elephant, being pegged back by dynasty and an unwillingness to take bold steps to change. low risk, but can we afford to wait? - another idea would have a few well meaning people at the top shooting from the hip taking hasty decisions without proper research, coupled with a massive devolution of certain powers to the people arguably without enough checks and balances in place. everyone is entitled to their own opinion. the one thing i would beseech you is to make an informed constituency level decision. look at your local candidates, learn about them and vote for the best one, regardless of who the associated presumed or actual prime ministerial candidate is. if you dont fulfill your democratic responsibility, dont complain later when your democratic rights are taken away.
