well, something about me, I am doing my computer engineering from delhi technological university, life is good, so here’s something I want to share with you guys, a post written by Vishal, its an old post, but still one of my favorite ones, as it is reminiscent of my first year at DTU with Vishal and Akshat- my best buddies in college, and how the IIT-jee exam broke this deadly NERDY-trio down to a duo! “Mom I don’t know when I’ll be back home. Maybe late, maybe early. Okay bye , now. love you”. And I set off for my journey from Punjabi Bagh metro station to Inderlok to Rithala station. Going down the stairs , I came out of a dark covered busy station to be welcomed by gramin-seva (local service at Rithala) drivers drenched in sweat , identifying the people dressed in potential “college dresses” and screaming madly “DCE college!! DCE college” till the students wont come to them and say “chalo bhaiya!”(lets go). I sat in one of the feeders with my friend from FIITJEE and started for the way to college haunted with thoughts of spending our daily life in metro and local roller-coster rides. Finally, I stepped out of the “kind-of-car” which had been stuffed with college students like vegetables in a bag(with eggs on top, if u know what i mean), handed a 10-rupee note to the man who made a century with probably his first ride and rose up my head to see a giant T letter at the entrance of the gate (that stood for delhi Technological university). I went straight inside the college, was surprised that colleges are so different from schools, attended the funny, yet boring orientation in the auditorium, laughed at our VC’s hair style, applauded for prize winners( the students with best ranks in college). There was happiness, sparkle in my eyes that I had got such a good college to be a part of. The people were nice, infrastructure was nice, canteen was big, had cheap yet delicious food. And then we were alloted our classes where we went to register ourselves and meet new students and make friends. After that, we were supposed to be taken by teachers for the college tour, but I skipped that. I didn’t want to go into labs and then look at the dangerous instruments, and then say ” haw..omg..i wanna go home..I cant live that”.. This was about my first day at the new institute or say, new home of my life. But the days after that turned out to be unexpected. 1. I hated the course curriculum. It was semester system which I really didn’t and don’t care about . But the kind of subjects I had to study being a computer engineering student, omg…I wanted to suicide..Hell awaited for me..all this rote learning..shit man..did I join college to memorize things? okay..let me show you what all I had to study.. I sem - a. Mathematics – okay its, fine..i loved maths b. Environmental Science – u kidding me..y on this earth ..should a computer science student study environment. To learn that plastic bags should be banned, to know that we should grow more and more trees??..huh c. Engineering Physics – holy crap..i cant handle physics..plz..why man..pressure is building up and up. d. Mechanical- now this is enough..Cutting iron metal in labs..welding things..this is enough. e. Programming- Now that is cool..my stuff..i love it f. Engineering Graphics – I knew that subject already. Had it in school. So, am okay with this. My poor fellas.. g. Physica lab- I have the deadliest memories of this lab. I hated this lab the most. Was full of creepy lab attendants sitting on chairs and playing with students like toys. I sem got over. I managed to get 76% which was considered to be a good score being in computer engineering. I developed a fancy for coding. Coding is challenging, fun, maths, brain, computer,world!! I had made 2 friends, S and P and they both were nice. I met a student V at my first Physics lab who was lazy, inactive but had a kind of uniqueness in him. I liked that. He was my partner at lab. I met another guy A who had befriended some person in my class and happened to sit always behind me. And I realized, he was so0000 talkative. He would never stop talking..always chatting..”universe,planets,astronomy,plants,walls,earthing system , semester, system, Uttar Pradesh, coaching institutes, electricity, DTU, science, food, canteen, water, etc etc..But again I even felt like talking to him, befriended him and started liking his company. So, I had now 1 friend V of phy lab, 1 friend A of chit-chats and 2 friends S and P for roaming around. But then, V started coming with me, S and P. And A used to meet us occasionally. II sem came. I feared that subjects would be more dreadful. SUBJECT INITIAL RESPONSE FINAL RESULT Mathematics I’ll handle that I cried at the end Communication skills my cup of tea sipped it :) Physics I cant do this I was right Chemistry seems easy I was wrong Electrical easy peasy least score IT can bear it bore it Physics lab will just pass passed Electrical lab will just pass passed IT lab will kill it..hell passed :( Chem lab I play with chemicals,baby passed :( Downfell to 66% from 76%. Dont know how but it was teachers’ fault..not mine..I didn’t care..let III sem begin..decided to rule the college in III sem .Till then, V, A and me had become awesome friends. I liked their company and they liked mine and each others’. S and J started to seem boring to me. I thought of me,V and A as three like three idiots( Raju, Farhan and Chanchad), like Ron,Hermoine and Harry, like Akash, Sameer and Siddharth (Dil chahta hai)..and the list goes on.. But I’ll like to kill them one day coz A and V started coaching for IIT. I didn’t start, I was fed up of coaching and didn’t want to start again..though they did try to convince me hard.. A- “krle yaar ..tu toh select bhi ho jaega”. V-”abe haan yr..teri toh phle bhi 4000 rank thi..ab krega toh top 100 m hi ho jaega.” me- ” yr..pagal ha kya..rhen de..mera mood hi ni h.” A-”sahi m yr…hmara toh fir bhi chance DTU m rhne ka h..tere liye hi kh re h..krle” V-”abe krle yr…chal BT tak toh chal le..form bhar de..bas JEE ka paper de dio..chahe pad mat” me-”yr yaha comp science mili hui h..IIT m ye lene k liye top 100 m aana pdega..cant take risk. I’ll end up screwing my DTU too”. And we all parted ways. A and V stopped attending classes and started preparing for JEE. I had thought that V may not be able to do it coz he was not studying that seriously. But A might do it..though he would also not get a very good rank and leave IIT and we’ll be together again :) :) ..hehe I am evil. IIT result came. I phoned A and he told me in low voice -” I got 3600 rank” me-” oh ,congrats”. I phoned V and he told me in lower voice-” I got 5700 rank” me-”oh.congrats”. Tension was in the air. We all were confused what to do now.. And I decided to screw them and make new friends. Finally finally..A went off to IITR ( metallurgy, :( ) and V stayed at DTU ( yeyyy).. I decided to continue my friendship :) Now..its III sem.. and I have developed a great deal of interest in coding. I like to do it day and night. V’s life is a little jeopardized, revolving between girlfriend and friends and love for coding. Now, let V figure out what does he love the most, let A figure out if he is happy with his new life and friends and let me figure out what my next post is going to be………………………. :) ;)
