*working on positivity, might toot my own horn for a minute* 9 years ago I lost almost everything(as did EVERY SINGLE PERSON within a few hundred mile radius). I had my family, the clothes on my back and two guitars. My city, as far as I knew, had become a real life Atlantis; but the Cajun version, a giant, toxic bowl of bullshit gumbo. At that point I had already spent over 10 years in and out of bands. So, with really nowhere else to go, I decided to move to the birthplace of Rock n Roll, Memphis, TN. *Fast forward 9 years to today.* I dont have much, actually less than I had when the storm hit. (Lol?) But, I have one hell of a story! (In short)In a time when the rock music industry is struggling more than ever.. I have managed to start (w some others) and be part of a band. A real band, one that has taken me across the country, to and thru almost EVERY STATE in the USA; with some of my closest friends. (Merica!) I have met lots of great people, that have opened their doors to us and share stories about their kids and they ask about mine. Ive even had the pleasure of meeting a handful of famous people. (Like Henry Winkler (the fonz!!), Rob Schneider and Butterbean!). Ive gotten to share the stage with some of my favorite bands! And even watched members of other bigger bands that were in side bands that opened up for us! Around the mid point of this tour I was having a really tough time. We were robbed (in San Antonio) and I was broke. On a day off, I was standing outside of a venue to get away from everybody and grab a hot beer out of the van(because they were given to us a few days before and were free!). Thats when Anthony came outside and found me. I told him what was on my mind and he pointed out something that I had never realized before. He said dude, you lost EVERYTHING. When everything was falling apart you started a band that went top 40...TWICE! Both singles that we released.. How many people do you know that can say that?!? Quit being so hard on yourself and enjoy it!!At that point all I could think of is god damn, this beer is hot!..and Ive got two dollars in my pocket. But in the back of my mind, somewhere, it registered because..well, Im still thinking about it. Anyways, its been one hell of a ride and Im thankful for the opportunities. For all of my friends and the support given over the years, I can never say thank you enough...more later. #DontHate #SurrenderTheFall #HellOrHighWaterTour #HurricaneKatrina #9Years #TootTootMuthaEffer #MetallicaTakeUsOutWithYou
