youtu.be/twC6FvDubLk Back before they became Pop rock (and dont get me wrong, I like songs like Dont Stop Believing and such) JOURNEY used to be a hard rocking band. Steve Perry is arguably the best voice in rock (better than that wannabe that Journey has singing now) and original Keyboardist/vocalist Gregg Rollie, Bassist Ross Valory, and Drummer Steve Smith were just perfect. The had their own niche in music. Not heavy metal or hard rock, but even fans of heavy metal listened. They werent Pop, but Pop fans listened. Fans of Blues, jazz, rock, everybody could find something about them to enjoy. I miss them. The original them. Im sad they are just a shell of their former selves. Rock bands shouldnt go out that way. Thats why I appreciate what Motely Crue has done over the past 3 1/2 decades. Despite some stumbles, they are ending their time together as they started....as a complete unit. And because of that, they have never had to resort to playing county fairs and dive bars. The original lineup came back together a decade ago, and has been the top of the touring rock world ever since. Selling out stadiums around the world at the top of their game in their sunset years. Perhaps some other bands like Styx and REO Speedwagon and others who are stuck playing country fairs should take a page from Motley Crues book, bury some hatchets and reform the original. Or just let the band become a happy memory and not a sad dying whimper. Its about the music as a whole, and the parts of the whole need to set aside their egos and their hates and disrespect for each other and come together for the sake of the music.
