فَلَمَّا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُ أَنَّهُ عَدُوٌّ لِلَّهِ تَبَرَّأَ مِنْهُ But when it became apparent to Abraham that his father was an enemy to Allah , he disassociated himself from him. (CH.: 9, V.: 114) There is no courtesy at the expense of principles, no melting when it comes to beliefs, and no dissolving when it comes to association. After that, dealing is according to legitimate interest and Islamic benefit. The concept of Al Walaa and Al Baraa is something that must be rooted into our hearts.
